The Tipped Ship Consignment Policy

Welcome to The Tipped Ship’s consignment program! We’re excited to work with community members to offer unique, high-quality items to our customers. Here’s how it works:


📦 Item Submissions

  • Maximum of 10 items per submission. (One or two great items are fine too!)
  • All items must be:
    • Clean, in excellent condition, and ready to sell
    • A good match for the shop’s current selection
  • We may decline items that do not meet our quality standards or don’t fit with our current inventory.

🔁 How to Consign

Consignment Appointment

  • Call or email ahead to confirm we’re accepting items.
  • Consignors must book an appointment.
  • Include a clearly printed note with your:
    • Name
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Date of drop-off
    • List of items
  • Items not accepted must be picked up within 14 days of notification or will be donated to charity.

👚 Clothing Guidelines

All clothing must be:

  • Clean and freshly laundered (pressed if needed)
  • Free of rips, stains, pilling, odours, pet hair, or undue wear
  • Fully functional (zippers, buttons, embellishments intact)
  • Pockets checked and emptied

Clothing can be folded or hung. Hangers and containers will not be returned.

We accept:

  • Adult women’s clothing (sizes XS to XXL):
    • Dresses, tops, pants, sweaters (no pilling), jackets, coats
    • Lingerie, nightwear, and swimwear with original tags only
    • Accessories: scarves, jewelry, hats, handbags (excellent condition)

We do not accept:

  • Shoes or any footwear
  • Underwear
  • Used lingerie, nightwear, or swimwear
  • Handbags with wear (check corners, lining, straps, hardware, etc.)

🏡 Household Items & Decor

  • An appointment is required to review household items.
  • limited number of items are accepted on consignment.
  • The items must be clean, in good repair, and sale-ready.

🎨  Original Artwork & Local Makers

  • An appointment is required
  • limited number of pieces are accepted on consignment.
  • Cash Payout to you is 60% of the selling price

💰 Payment Options (other than original artwork & local makers)

When you consign, choose one of the following:

  1. Store Credit (60%) of the selling price
    • Use credit for anything in the shop
    • Valid for 2 years from the date of issue
  2. Cash Payout to you (50%) of the selling price
    • Payouts are issued monthly by e-transfer (preferred) or by cash
    • Unclaimed cash payouts will be forfeited after 12 months

Please indicate your preferred method at the time of drop-off.


🧾 Your Consignor Account

  • You’ll receive access to a password-protected account to view item listings, sales, and payouts.
  • New items may take some time to appear in your account.

📅 Additional Terms

  • Clothing, household and decor items may remain on the floor for up to 6 months.
  • We may discount clothing, household and decor items at our discretion to encourage sales
  • Items may be removed due to:
    • Seasonal change
    • Lack of interest or space
    • Undetected issues
  • Removed items must be picked up within 30 days of notification, or they will be donated
  • You may retrieve items early with 3 days’ notice
  • Items are left at your own risk. We take care of items left on consignment, but are not liable for loss or damage caused by theft, fire, water, vandalism, or other unforeseen events.
