If you've been in the shop in the last couple of weeks, you might have noticed the magazine table with the two fish painted on top. That was a fun piece by Edwina Wood. If you didn't catch it (pun intended), it's too late, as it went promptly to its new home. 

So I've put three fish on this small golden table instead. The fish are molded into this delightful glass serving platter. The small end table is upcycled with a coat of gold, again by local artist Edwina Wood.

I had fun doing some shopping for Tipped this week! A new-to-Tipped shelf elegantly displays some of our candle and candle holder collection. A good find to hold many good finds! 

Now that the evenings are cooler, we can pop the oven on long enough to bake a loaf of beer bread or some scones. These beer bread mixes use either one beer or one soda to leaven the loaf. The scone mix is a great starter for blueberry scones, cheddar scones, lemon scones, chocolate scones…wherever your taste buds take you! We have some great stoneware mixing bowls, too! 

Fall is creeping in. I saw a Maple tree with half the leaves already turned to gold. Soon we'll be reaching for a sweater or a jacket. The first of our fall sweaters are squeezing onto the shelves. You can expect many more sweaters at Tipped this fall. I may have gone sweater crazy…

The Elgin and Area Heritage Society presents Music in the Park Featuring The Beverley Trio
Sunday, Aug. 23, 2 to 4 pm 
Heritage Park, next to the Red Brick School in Elgin

The Beverley Trio’s event will offer a world premiere of a work by local composer Sharon Singer! Sharon had given Tom Heinze a group of six of her own compositions at an Elgin concert at the Red Brick School, hoping that he would assess their potential for further development. After study, Tom expanded them into a four-movement volume known as “Canadiana Sketches”. This will debut at the show.

The afternoon will also feature many works of J. S. Bach and his musical colleagues accompanied by enriching and entertaining background information on the pieces.

There is no admission fee; however, donations will be matched by EAHS and given to the arts programs at Rideau District High School. Please bring your own chair and water bottle!
