Charlie and I had a chance to go for a walk on the Cataraqui Trail last Sunday. It was bright and sunny, but I was startled when I looked around. Having been so busy inside here and with the weather so cool outside, I thought spring had stalled, that nature paused, waiting for the warmer weather, and I wasn't missing anything. Far from it! The fiddleheads were up well beyond harvesting height. The Trilliums were in bloom. Spring is springing forward, cool or not. It has been cool though, especially in the evenings, and I've been enjoying the heat of the oven warming the kitchen. This Emile Henry Dutch oven is sturdy, high-quality cookware with enough room to feed the whole family. There's one, and it's a beautiful red colour. While we're thinking warm thoughts, this trio from Lyndhurst-based Stone Bridge Farm will warm you from the inside out. Warmth and pleasure for the tea drinker in your life. This little teapot sits on the matching cup. Pair it with a package of handpicked loose-leaf tea, and you've got a thoughtful gift to give. A different trio - a trio of tealight holders. Perfect for gracing your table or mantle with the flicker of candlelight. There's a theme here - trying to stay warm during these cool days. This simple, one-size sweater is light and soft, 55% linen and 45% organic cotton. It makes a great top layer over a camisole or t-shirt. In the warmer weather, you can enjoy it all on its own. It feels fantastic! To all the mothers, soon-to-be mothers, or those who mother with the kindness of their hearts, I wish you a happy Mother's Day. There are 15 tickets left for the Tipped Spring Fashion Show. What I haven't told you yet is that there are door prizes! A little something something for everyone who attends, plus we'll be drawing for some prizes. Dar, who paints garden flowers on pillows, jackets, and shirts, has graciously donated one of her pieces of wearable art to a lucky door prize winner. Brandi, of Magill's All Natural Skin Care Products, has donated a jar of her handmade face cream. Her products already have a strong following, leaving your skin smooth, reducing redness, and plumping away wrinkles. And…Orientique has donated prizes too! Laughter, goodies, and prizes! It's going to be fun!
We've got tickets for the Elgin performances of Spectres & Speed Trains. The Rideau Players are at it again, bringing up lots of irony and laughter!
Something new is happening in Elgin! A spring market this Saturday from 10 to 4!
