This week Anne Marie Garcia stopped by with her first book, Detinies. I was intrigued as she shared the plot with me and I knew it was one I was going to read. I didn't know I would read it that evening…and read it until I finished it in the wee hours of the morning! It's a page-turner, a murder mystery, a romance novel with a main character who struggles to overcome the strict social expectations of a divided “high society”. 

Anne Marie will be here for a reading at Tipped on Sunday, July 19th at 2 pm. Meanwhile, pick up a copy and escape into it! 

More new local creations arrived at Tipped this week. Ryan of Meadow Lane Studios brought in two of his beautiful functional art pieces. Sydney tried one on for size. 

One is a side table, stool, or pedestal, and the other is a pedestal. They're gorgeous and are the result of more than 25 hours of work each. They're finished for indoor use. Check out what he started with! They came a long way to reveal their unique inherent beauty. 

Abi and Sydney were goofing around, trying on these gorgeous leather belts that arrived at Tipped. (We have fun here!) No, you don't have to pretend you're a bodybuilder to add one of these to your wardrobe. 

The 25% off Summer Clothing Sale continues for another week. It's been bustling in here. I added another air conditioner to keep you cool and comfy for those multi-outfit try-on sessions! Come check the racks! 

It's berry season! The strawberries are at their peak, and the raspberries aren't far behind. Tipped has lots of tasty berry jams ready for you to enjoy.

 Hurray! We're restocked with Red Fife Pancake Mix. Get your griddle going!

This is it! Elgin Day 2026 begins Thursday, July 9th, with the big day on Saturday, July 11th. So much is happening in Elgin! 

Tipped welcomes Patrick Johnson and Billy MacInnis back, playing outside the shop for the fourth year from 11 to 1. Carol will be here to put on free temporary tattoos. My friend Erica will be painting your cheery faces with her new eco-friendly face paints. KevCon Construction has fun hand fans and the cutest little stickers to hand out.
