CA & Sonny in Concert, Saturday, February 28th, 7 pm at Elgin United

Witty and entertaining stage banter, fiddle and banjo and more - great stringed instrument playing and harmonies. Don’t miss this toe-tapping evening of old-time music played live by Ottawa's CA & Sonny.

"These talented musicians are true performers. Their performance style includes witty banter peppered with tales of yesteryear and good old folk music. One song might be “My Grandfather’s Clock,” dating back to 1876, and the next one might be “My Sweetie Turned Me Down,” from 1925.

They also perform their own original tunes. See if you can tell which ones are theirs! In an exclusive interview with The Review-Mirror, C.A. and Sonny shared their thoughts about their musical roots and love of folk music, along with some of their trademark humour." per Colette Kenny, Review-Mirror

This is the second of four concerts in the 2026 Tipped Tunes Winter Concert Series. The first one was a full house. Those in the know have their tickets. Don't miss getting your tickets - at Tipped or online!

Here they are telling you about the show!

If you want a fantastic live music fix this week, I highly recommend “Moonfruits and Tragedy Ann” at the Joshua Bates Centre in Athens. I've presented Moonfruits twice, most recently at a house concert here in Elgin a couple of years ago.

Tickets can be purchased in advance: https://joshuabatescentre.com/pec-events/moonfruits/

"2024 Canadian Folk Music Award nominees Moonfruits craft contemporary folk that addresses our collective humanity with heart, wit, and wonder. Led by partners Alex Millaire and Kaitlin Milroy, Moonfruits pen songs in both French and English, a reflection of their bilingual lived experience in their hometown of Ottawa.

Theirs is the music of open-minded dreamers and diligent doers, confronting dehumanizing capitalism and environmental catastrophe with a rousing message of solidarity.

Tragedy Ann is a compassion project from Guelph, Ontario. When they write songs together, Liv Cazzola & Braden Phelan evoke humanizing questions with pump organ, singing saw, guitar, and accordion. In harmony, their voices sensitively tread between the impossible fragility of bent porcelain and the nuanced joy of torn fabric, lovingly mended.

Leading with curiosity, empathy, and charm, Cazzola & Phelan share vignettes inside stories inside songs – compelling listeners to consider community in ways that feel both familiar and audaciously forward-looking."
