On the quiet holiday Monday, I trimmed the shrubs that overhang the sidewalk out front. You can imagine my shock when the first branch that fell to the ground was covered in blooming lilacs. In mid-October! Well, I never… While we're talking about flowers in October, sadly, last Friday night's frost caught the flower fields at Forgotten Orchard Farm. I'll miss having fresh local flowers until they return next summer. I finally had a great excuse to bake some of the ARVA Beer Bread to take to a friend's. I used a soda rather than a beer - either provides the leavening. I chose Cheddar & Chives, and gosh, it was tasty. I'm already hankering for more! Those aren't real apples or real lemons, but they can fool you into believing they are. We've got a new fall-themed collection of the marvelous tea towels by Hammer & Stitch. All of this is on a new creackle-finish drop-leaf coffee table that arrived at Tipped last week. That little periwinkle blue folding chair is perfect as a plant stand. It's holding a dog bowl by Clay Studio Collective member Sarah Hamelin. The bowl is filled with a very healthy Aloe. I'll stop before this becomes a version of the old folk song “The Green Grass Grew All Around”. This sign makes me happy! What a great reminder of good times. There's one here… Our jam of the week is Blueberry & Lavender by Michael's Dolce, made with Nova Scotia Blueberries. I've been in Nova Scotia during the abundance of blueberry season. Oh, yes, this is yummy! Our album of the week - Booker T. & The MG's from 1968. It's a way back machine! Some pics I took in the back room at the “Not Your Average Tea Party" fall fashion show in Westport last Friday. Thanks to all the organizers and attendees. Special thanks to our models, Maggie, Patty, and Queen Shirley! The MC, Carrie, wore an outfit from Tipped for part of the evening. Pat and Sydney kept everything running smoothly. I was so grateful to have the help and support of these fantastic women. Those smiles are genuine! We all had such a great time! Life is short - wear the clothes, laugh a lot, Trish at Tipped OPEN EVERY DAY: Sun/Mon/Tues., 11 am to 3 pm Wed - Sat., 10 am to 5 pm The Tipped Ship 3 Main Street, Elgin, ON K0G 1E0 613-359-0999 Thanks for being part of what makes Tipped special! You can place your beer cans and wine and liquor bottles at the end of the driveway of 21 Kingston St. in Elgin for recycling. That's just around the corner from Tipped. The money from the returns supports the local animal rescue “Momma's Here Now”.

I was surprised to find out I was not on the voter list. I am now! If you're not sure, see the info from Rideaulakes.ca below!
